  1. I'm tearing my hair out! Help!

I need to make a VCD MPEG1 with interactive menu that will play on a computer. (VCD-ROM?)
Of course we can play the vcd by opening the .DAT file in windows media player, but I can't get the menu to come up and work.

Also what's good for creating interactive menus and chapters for an MPEG1 VCD?

Impressions will only do a SVCD and there's not much choices using the Nero 5.5
    menu creator.

I have a 1 hour MPEG 1 film that I need to make chapters, have a menu selection and be able to play on a computer.

Everything I've seen is devoted to SVCD or DVD. ugh!
    Thanks for any help.

  2. You can create menus in VCDs (very similar to SVCD in fact).

To play those menus, just load up your VCD with a software DVD player (i.e., put the disc in and press play -- NOT manually load the DAT file).

If you want PC specific material (e.g., EXE files, HTML files), you can add them on a S/VCD as well. Follow the above link.

If you are talking abouth Pinnacle Impression CD or DVD-PRO than I can tell you that Impression doesn't make SVCD, only DVD with mpeg1 or 2 files.

The best and easyest way for you to creat VCD with menues is to use Ulead MovieFactory. Encode your video with what ever encoder you are using. After importing the video footage into Ulead just make some chapterpoints and choose a tamplate for your VCD. Burn your CD directly from MovieFactory.
