  1. My cousin sent me a family video he made before going on a trip that I want to show my mom, but I've never seen this format:

    .XViD.MAXSPEED Windows seems to recognize it as a "maxspeed file", but it won't play on anything I have.

    What is this thing? And how do I convert it to anything playable? Thanks!

    Rename to .avi. It's probably a warez downloaded dvdrip....

  3. A word of warning: videos that require you download a specific player are usually just honeypots to get you do install malware.

    LOL! Can't say I've ever seen pirated video described as a "family video" made by a cousin, but that's one way to try to avoid breaking the forum rules.

    Apparently Maxspeed is a group of people who make DVD rips available on Torrent sites. Pay close attention to what jagabo said as most likely it's malware that someone not associated with Maxspeed created. And I'd really wonder about that cousin if I was you since he sent you that dubious file.

    Baldrick I renamed my Xvid file but it was the same error message as usual Am I missing something?
