I would like to play my vhs tapes through my cable tv box. Can anyone tell me how to do it?
My cable box is a "Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 HDC" Thanks, plutoiv@yahoo.com

Although this feature is optionally supported by cable boxes through the A/V input connectors*, very few cable companies have enabled this feature because they don't want the support issues. They would also prefer you watch their live advertising.
The feature is enabled (or not) in the firmware downloaded by your cable company. Call them and ask what you can do with the A/V input connectors.
* My Motorola box has A/V inputs front and back.
PS: The manufacturer info says the inputs were intended to pass A/V inputs to output when the cable box was switched to off. This too must be firmware controlled because my box continues to feed the tuned program when the unit is turned off or nothing if one pulls the plug.Last edited by edDV; 15th Feb 2011 at 17:32.
