I've successfully installed the DVD slideshow GUI, the Open Office.org soffice app, transferred a PowerPoint slideshow file and then imported it into the DVD Slideshow app. Everything looks OK BUT.......

I cannot seem to figure out how to get rid of the Dx9Allocator Presenter Failed error every time I try to preview the stuff I'm trying to do to to the individual slides (animation, etc. etc.).

I left all the check boxes untouched when I installed the DVD slideshow app so all the apps packaged with the program installed OK.

The mplayerc will play mp3 and wav files with no trouble but not flv files so it's obvious that the problem is with video types.

My OS is Win 7 Ultimate.

    The DVD slideshow is v.0.9.4.0

I've searched all over the web for some clue but all I can find looks like gibberish to me .

Anyone have a simple explanation written in everyday English?.

Start->Run DXdiag, Wait, select the DirectX Files tab. Anything showing in the Notes window?

I guess you tried google the exact error msg (dx9allocator error)?

Thanks for your interest in my problem.
I followed your instructions and saw the same message in all the Notes windows - "No problems found"
Please note that my PC has DirectX 11 which is the correct version for Win 7 Ultimate.
Do you think I have to find an old copy of DirectX 9 to use the DVD Slideshow GUI?

I've Googled every possible combination of messages in the error dialog:
    "Error creating EVR Custom Renderer"
    "DX9 Allocator Presenter Failed"
    and
    "D3DERR_Not Available"
    without any success.

  4. Looks like it's a media player classic problem:
    http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1089

Maybe there's a new'er version of MPC out which deals with that problem?

If you export something from DSG does the same thing happen?

I think I.m just going to drop the whole thing. I tried the latest MPC and got all kinds of error messages.
I've messed around in MPC setting different options and I've been able to eliminate the error message but then the rendering is a mess.
Thanks for your help but I think I'll try to just hack away at the thing for a while by punching one option or another in hopes I can find the right combination, if there is one.
I don't have anywhere near the expertise to attack the problem any other way.

I exported a trial slide show to an .iso format and when I changed the options in the MPC to EVR (Vista/.Net3) the show played perfectly with no error message on loading the .iso file into the MPC.

    Problem solved.

    Many thanks.
