I have a 90 minute video clip that I need to split into multiple 15 minute segments to be uploaded onto Youtube. The problem is that when I try to put the video clip into Adobe Premiere, it crashs. It's a very strange file type, .fla, which I guess is flash video. I think it's either the file extension or the length of the video that is making Premiere freak out.
So my question is, does anybody have any suggestions on resolving this issue? And if it is the weird extension, can anybody recommend a program thats free that can sucessfully convert .fla to something more common such as .avi or .mpeg? Thanks!

if adobe premiere accepts flv as an input you could change the extension from fla to flv, Go into a folder>tools then folder options> Hide extensions for known file types. or win7 Go folder> Organize > folder and search options >view Hide extensions for known file types. And Untick.
Or tell me what's inside the flv using mediainfo> export txt and post here. -
Hellfire, avidemux is one of my favourite tools as it can do many things. First of all if youyr file isn't in flv format and in the variation of it the(f4v), try to change the extension as I said above to flv or if it opens in avidemux than Use these formats:
MPEG2 (forDVD) select mpeg2 under video avcodec for multicore or mpeg2enc and mp3 or ac3 under audio /
MPEG1 (forVCD) select mpeg1 under video and mp2 audio
Container format is what holds the video and audio together, MPEG-PS is what you want and more compatible than TS and mpegvideo is just video no audio than ,
You can fiddle with quality if you want I usually leave the defaults' as it's a;ready a good set-up.
