  1. hii guys....i have Panasonic mini dv digital camcorder having model number "NV-MX7DEN".
    it have 4 pin i-dv o/p port, also i have Sony vaio "PCG-K13" laptop having 4 pin i-s400 port.
    when i connect my camcorder to pc through i-link cable and turned my camcorder in VCR mode.
    nothing happened my pc doesn`t detect my camcorder at all. i m trying to import footage via window movie maker
    as well as video edit magic software bt it shows error like "device not found....".
    i need ur help.....please

    try using winDV. if it can't find the cam, i'd try getting a new 4pin to 4pin cable. check the firewire port in the computer hardware properties and make sure it's listed as working. maybe install sp3?

    You might also try finding a non-Sony computer and see if that machine can see the Panny. I've heard of problems with Sony's i.link sometimes not playing nice with other implementations of firewire.

    thax fr responding....windv also couldn`t find my cam, my i-link port appeared as working properly. well i will try with new 4pin to 4pin cable then tell u........i m using XP sp2. r it is necessory to install sp3?
