I am trying to convert a regular DVD film to a avi format that is ca 700 MB in size, but the iSofter DVD Ripper does not seem to comply. I just want a simple program, pop a dvd in my PC, press convert and voila! Any suggestions? What do online rippers use?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Well, autogk can create a 700 mb avi from a dvd. But even that if not really a 'one-click' program and I would certainly NEVER even attempt that by just 'inserting dvd in PC' since, basically, it will not work.
The dvd will need to be ripped to your HDD first. Pure and simple. From there you will need to tweak the settings dependant on the dvd.
To summarise, there is no 'one-click' solution.
