    Now, my problem is, for some reason it plays some AVIs and MKVs and others it doesn't.

    I've included a comparison of 2 MKVs using media info. I can't tell the difference but I'm hoping somebody can, and can tell me why it's playing one and not the other.

    Stop downloading the movies and rip them yourself, then you can create the correct files for your player.

  4. Most standalone players can be picky about certain formats. One file had a much higher bitrate was all I noticed, but that could be the problem or it might be something else. Could just be a corrupted file.

    I would recommend either check a dedicated forum for that particular device or test a large number of files whose parameters you are familiar with.
