I'm wanting to buy a pocket HD camcorder like the Flip or Kodak Zi8.
However, digital cameras also records in HD.

I'm looking for something that fits in my pocket. Some of these digital cameras that records in HD are as small or even smaller than a pocket HD camcorder (example: Canon PowerShot SD1400).

Do you recommend that I get a pocket HD camcorder or should I buy a digital camera that records in HD?

I would go for the Kodak Zi8 or Playsport if you need underwater shots. The Kodak shoots 60 frames in 720p mode and the quality is very good. Plus it's a better looking cam than the Flip.

I have both and I like having a spare as backup or to shoot multicam.

NOTE: The Playsport doesn't have an external mic jack, so you would need to use a field recorder instead of lav mic.
