I made my first VCD's tonight taking AVI files to a VCD using NERO V5.5.5.1 and some MPG2 plug-in.
It takes three-five hours for each VCD !! Sound is always good, and about 80% of the time the picture on my new Sony TV is good, BUT about 20% of the time the picture breaks up into a "basketweave" pattern, sort of large pixelated things. It is very annoying and unless I can correct it, I will stop doing this conversion. I have a Pentium Two @ 400 mHz, 128 MB RAM, and a Yamaha 8824 external SCSI burner. DVD Player = APEX-5131.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO CURE THIS INTERMITTENT BASKETWEAVING ON MY TV ? :P
Thank you ![/b]

That's the nature of VCD, especially a poor VCD encoder. Only high quality VCD's look good. Capture at 352x480 AVI and use Tmpeg for VCD compression. Then, you can burn with Nero.
