I have a bunch of .mgg files I would like to combine to one .mpg. What is the best software to do this with smooth transitions and no audio issues?

    Thanks

Yep. I second mpeg-vcr. It's a great tool and damn cheap at $19.00

I use VideoRedo. Not as cheap as Womble, but includes a utility to fix timestamp issues with video that can lead to weird playback issues.

For just combining mpg files, the free TMPGEnc always worked well for me.

VideoRedo is the best option IMO for cutting scenes and keeping audio in sync but the new version with H264 support is $95.

Open a DOS window and use the CONCATENATE command.
