    Hi,

    I have Pioneer DVD310.
    1. How can I know which regions this DVD is compatible with? (Beside the label on the back: Not sure it is correct)
    2. How can I crack this DVD into free region? Is it complicated?

    Thanks,
    Uriel

    1. Your location suggests Region 2 applies. If the player hasn't been modified, then it will only play the region in which it was sold. You can test it by trying a disc that it set to a different region (e.g import or home-made). Some DVD Editor programs allow you to set any region you wish for a VIDEO_TS folder. By setting a disc to region 1,3,4,5,6,7,8 but not 2, you can test it for all other regions at once.

    2. This player is listed in the hacks section. It is a firmware upgrade. Like any firmware flashing, you can brick the player if anything goes wrong. That's why it says use at your own risk. Installing a firmware could invalidate your warranty. This special edition of the firmware is not made by/approved by Pioneer, but by a third party, usually anonymous. If you don't trust it, then do not use it.
General instructions for burning the firmware file to CD-RW are in Swedish. Use Google Translate for other languages. It's not complicated, but you need to be very precise. The operation is not for impatient or sloppy people.

  3. this player should play region free discs from all over the world, so safest way is to make a back up disc using dvd fab etc and the backup will be region free.

    Hi,

Even the DVD seems to succesfully upgraded, I've tried my region 2 DVD media and the DV310 pronpts that the media is incompatible with the region...

    1. How can I check which regions the DV310 is compatible with?
    2. Is there a PC SW that checks the region of the DVD media?

    Thanks,
    Uriel

  7. Did you hold down the Enter button on the remote control for several seconds after the firmware was loaded? If not, power on the player and hold down the Enter button until "CLEAR" appears on the player's display.

    THANKS!!!!

Now I can see my region 2 movie!!!

I pressed the ENTER for 10 seconds. Then, the DV just powered off (no CLEAR appears on the display).

I have no idea if now I can play every region, but at least I know that region2 is working!

    Thanks for the help,
    Uriel

  9. Glad you were successful. I forgot when the word "CLEAR" shows on the display, so sorry for the confusion on that. The readme document included with the firmware file explains "CLEAR" appears when the player is powered on again.

The procedure to hold down the Enter button on the remote for several seconds isn't documented. I had to do a Google search before I could make my player region free.
