  1. The audio is AAC (mp4a) 96kbps 2ch 16-bit 48000hz. I have mkvmerge (and mkvextract), autogk, virtualdub, vlc, and media player classic installed on my computer already and i really wouldn't like to install anymore video-related programs anymore. Anyone knows how to utilize the aforementioned programs to extract .mp4 audio?
But if i must install new programs, are there any that fufill the sole function of extracting audio out of a .mp4 file only? Lightweight ones.

    Use a mp4 demultiplexer, mymp4boxgui or yamb.

Is it possible to get a M4A file (for portable player use) or just MP4?

MP4Muxer (which is a GUI for MP4Creator) will extract the AAC audio from the MP4 file.

It's all in the Demultiplex tab. It will mux it to raw AAC with extension .aac.

If you want it in MP4, or M4A, just mux the AAC file again (Multiplex tab) into an MP4. Change the extension as needed.
I hate VHS. I always did.
