The new Sandy Bridge cpu's from Intel has the net all abuzz. One of the things about this chip is that it's supposed to thrwart video piracy. I convert video tapes to DVD. If i were to buy a new Sandy Bridge cpu-based pc, how would that effect my transfers? Is it mainly for DVD copiers? I do take some of my store-bought DVD's and convert them to my Ipod Touch. How would that process be effected if i were to have one of those nifty Sandy Bridge pc's? Does it spell doom and gloom for "fair-use" copying of DVD's, tapes, blu-ray discs, etc? How many people that are members of this grand website will be effected by the new chips?

This may increase the demand for AMD processors. http://idhacker.com/intels-sandy-bridge-got-anti-piracy-features/. It looks more like it is primarily designed to deal with high end digital streaming video content.

Not at all. It's only for new stuff that's specifically designed to use it.

It will have no effect on existing media. Only new media types in the future (online streaming, etc.).
