  1. Hi all,

I'm trying to convert video I captured from my sony digital camera to divx. The problem is, that the capture from the camera is a MS DV Video avi. When I try to encode it to DiVX with VirtualDub or vidomi, I get an error message, stating that I need to have a VFW-avi file to start with.

So my question is, how do I convert my DV movies into DiVX???
The main concern is to keep the quality as good as possible.

PLEASE, any help is greatly appreciated,

    TriHorn

  2. MS DV codec is Directshow.

VirtualDub is Video for Windows (VFW).

You need to get a VFW codec for VirtualDub to read it. Try the
MainConcept codec (www.mainconcept.com free trial for decodes
    only, encodes add watermark).

You can see Virtualdub.org for details under the support section.
It will also explain DV Type1 and Type2 files.
