pc dvd writer not seeing dvd

when i put a dvd movie or program into my dvd drive( i have 2) it doesn't see the dvd. when i put in a cd it plays fine. i have changed the dvd rom and the cable to it. anyone please

I had one do this, the drive died when this happened to mine. You could try taking out the drive and cleaning it.

If those programs are on dvd media and it's this media giving you issues then it's possible the diode which controls the wavelength frequency required for reading dvd's is out of spec ... the one which controls the wavelength for reading cd's is fine ... it's time to replace the unit.

i have tried replacing with another that i have and the same problem occurred . i tried cleaning the dvd writers and still the same, could it be the motherboard is just getting old?

Are dvds not seen by dvd drive commercial dvds or dvds burned by the OP or other person, and what brand and model are the 2 dvd drives?

it does not matter if they are burned dvds or store bought and the brands are hitachi-lg and toshiba. just looked at dates on them and they 2006 and 2005
