I downloaded and converted an .avi to a VCD compliant
MPEG with TMPG. Now the problem is I have a 780+ mb/85 minute file that is too large for my 74min CD-R.
Obviously I'd like to burn this to one CD. What (which) software is best suited for re-compressing? Any quick links or user guides to accomplishing this? Pointers, advice, etc?

Try Kwag's template at http://briefcase.yahoo.com/mpeg_test . It worked great for me. I saved an 80+ minute video on one CD and it is hard to tell it is not in SVCD format. You can save a large file to one disk using it, it looks as good as SVCD, and you don't have to do the painful encoding like you do making SVCD. You have to use it with TMPGE found in the tools section <----.
