*.264 Files?

When I demux a m2ts file using tsMux, I get an expected audio file extension and a *.264 for the video. This video file cannot be played in my video player GOM. What purpose does it serve?

For proper playback on a selected device, *.264 files are meant to be in a container, such as .mkv, .mp4, .ts, .m2ts, even .vob or even .avi (if you dare), etc. Usually, it's also packaged with audio and maybe even subtitles, etc..

If you just want playback of only the video, such as the *.264, just package only that into one of the containers your player supports. Never used GOM, but it would be a bad player if it doesn't support at least one of the containers mentioned.

The purpose demuxing to *.264 serves most of the time is usually archiving and/or if you want to mux into another container later.
