Hi guys...I got a big problem here. I've done so much dvd ripping and one of my favourite setting is encode to x264 codec and make it in HD 720p size. For me, encoding HD 720p is not an issue because I'm just altering the codec, bitrate and avisynth scripts. I've used many applications like HandBrake, Format Factory, Avidemux, Mkvmerge, MEGui, Auto Gordian Knot, Virtual Dub and so on..But...I really cannot encode it to HD 1080p size..I really love that resolution, in order to makes me satisfied with the High Definition experience while watching movie/video. Just tell me is there anybody who didn't like watching movie with full resolution, no border and extra clear picture? Hope you guys can help me....

DVD native resolution is 720x480/576. Upscale isn't going to add any resolution. Most are happy to let the player or display card handle the upscale.

  3. It's almost certainly a complete waste of time. As edDV said, let the player of display card do the upscaling.

  4. As others have pointed out, unless your player or HDTV have very poor upscalers, there's no reason to upscale before encoding. Also keep in mind that whatever artifacts your upscaling creates will be locked into your video for all time. Whereas in the future you may get a player or HDTV with better upscaling than your current software technique and all your non-upscaled videos will look better.

But I'm curious, if you can change the AVS script to resize to 1280x720, why can't you change it to resize to 1920x1080?

Thanks, guys. So many comments. Hm...i'm not the pro to adjust the Avisynth scripts..just a beginner in this field. However, i've become an experience dvd ripper but still new in using the avisynth scripts.

    Still a waste of time.
