  1. version is updated retail version of cs5.

was weird i tried adding the m2ts, the transport stream, which was demuxed from the mkv, the dts converted to ac3, then remuxed and it wouldnt play any sound.. did the same with my mp4box and it has loaded in premiere..

when trying to edit in the preview panel it looks all choppy as if the video has been tainted or is not playing back properly. dunno what the deal is there..

  2. Are you still on a dual core ? That could be why . Do you have MPE enabled ?

Or did you use proper sequence setttings (do you see red render bar above the timeline) ?

  3. yes im still on the dual core.. how do i enabled mpe, or is this that threaded encoding or whatever when you have a gcard that can do it?

my system is kinda chugging when clicking to different sections of the video, bam right now premiere has just crashed.

im just trying to clip this mp4 ive made from these streams, maybe this is the problem you mentioned regarding mp4s as opposed to transport streams.. the audio wouldnt play in premiere when i remuxed the h264 and ac3 to m2ts before.

    hmm, ill try again..

  4. hmmmm , everything works on the .m2ts for me , but the file you uploaded didn't have audio so I assume you're testing something else?

I don't know why it would be different? Do you have CS4 installed ? Maybe your CS5 install is corrupted ? Do you have ac3acm or ac3filter installed ?

you need a compatible card for MPE, to enable it in the options for rendering go project=>project settings=> general => video rendering and playback => MPE GPU acceleration

(there is a CS5 hack that allows lower end cards to work, but it still requires a 768MB memory gfx card at least, just search google)

A dual core isn't going to cut it. Transcoding to a lossless intermediate will even be slower for editing than native h.264

Something like cineform will make your life easier, or a proxy workflow (edit in SD, swap back to HD on final render). You can search for "proxy workflow" there should be dozens of guides out there

  5. ok it loads now but when skipping forward it will freeze on a frame and continue playing the audio.. far out this is the first video i have to edit i have so much more in so many different formats.

the sd footage or any of the footage i cant load in premiere, either via demuxing and remuxing, or just straight loading.. i will have to be encoding any of this to a lossless format before loading.. so im pretty much going to be editing, rendering, encoding a lot of lossless video or bluray/h264 etc so i really will need to get a new pc if wanting to do all this right> that shouldnt be a problem. i just want to get all the video im going to be using loaded and be able to edit it before i go get the new pc.

its not just the pc thats causing these problems surely, it is the video im using.. when i do encode everything i cant load to premiere losslessly to ut, should i use megui and just lookup the best settings for this...

  6. Nope, you should use UT for everything if have you have to encode to something else. Don't use megui . Even in the lossless x264 mode , it's much slower than UT for speed of decoding (editing speed). And if you use any other settings, you're losing quality and causing potential incompatiblities (your having such a hard time already)

Maybe something else is wrong with your system ? Like bad overclock, bad memory stick ? corrupt os ? It really shouldn't be this difficult. And it shouldn't crash with only a few streams. Everything should load right in

hmmm... without the help of nVidia offload via the (Adobe) Mercury Playback Engine (that uses nVidia CUDA) I don't think you're going to be able to edit 720p on a Intel Core 2 Duo. (my T7800 core 2 duo 2.8GHz isn't good enough). My Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.4HGhz is enough though (just).

  8. Another lightweight option is edius or edius neo booster - it's very well optimized for software decoding. I tried the demo on a laptop (dual core) , and it edited quite smoothly AVCHD material. Wayy soother than CS4

The problem with Adobe stuff is it's very resource heavy and bloated and gets worse each generation

  9. im gonna be at this for several months wanting to make a full length documentary, so considering this i just want the best way to edit up all this footage. i have some video tutorials im yet to go through, lydias and some other one, so yeah dont know how to use premiere yet but wanting to be first able to load all the video im wanting to use before i start the actual editing process..

it seems best way to do this is to be getting a better system and using premiere... considering all the video formats i have and the fact i want to edit losslessly and then output various formats encoding constantly etc it seems what you are suggesting is getting a beast of a system with a graphics card that can do MPE and then demux, remux everything i can/ and everything i cant convert to ut for loading into premiere.. then edit everything up, then output to whatever format i want. new pc i be needing, shiiiett

  10. yes that's been repeated a few times now

you should be able to load most things natively , only things like FLV, MKV container need remuxing. Very few things will need transcoding to a different format (but apparently you have 6000 different formats, so maybe... )

by "lydias" , I think you mean lynda.com tutorials - and that is a good place to start for the basics

If you don't want new hardware, then cineform is probably the best option (visually lossless, great editing performance) , or a proxy workflow, or even give edius neo booster a try. You can also try reducing the preview quality

  11. sry its 8:30 in the morning here been up all night been at this problem over and over so just wanna be sure i can load everything and edit everything before i start the process. then i can just churn through everything and start clipping it all.

i tried getting cineform working it said it couldnt find the premiere plugins folder, ill check out edius, might try reducing the preview quality and look at working through some of my other formats. i think for the long run, considering im going to be in it for the long haul, my best option it seems is to get a beast of a system. i have so much material that it would seem like it would solve most problems. ill check out those other options tonight and work on premiere a little more, see how i go with it..

if you're in the USA then newegg.com is your best bet. DRAM speed is really important - make sure you get 1300MHz. A nVidia GTX 460 is a crazy amount of processing power for $160. My brother just built up an insanely fast machine with $800 of parts so bare that in mind when opening your wallet.
    'just found the specs...
btw, I saw it running and it is really quiet. a nice plus.
He got it for gaming but it should be great at video processing.
He runs Windows 7 64bit on it.

    CPU ($200)
    Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80605I5760

    Motherboard ($60)
GIGABYTE GA-H55M-S2V LGA 1156 Intel H55 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
    - If you plan to add more memory, get a motherboard with 4 memory slots; this only has 2.
    - If you plan to use IDE drives, get a motherboard with an IDE connection.
    - If you plan to use floppy drives, get a motherboard with a Floppy connection.
    - Note, the onboard video will not work when used with the i5-760 chip (the chip doesn’t support it).

    Memory ($55)
    G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK
    - This is ‘8’ CAS Latency memory, you can get ‘9’ instead (slightly slower - $42) but I suggest you get this (~$13 more) as it is faster, and certified for the motherboard.

    HDD ($50)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

    GPU ($160)
EVGA 01G-P3-1366-TR GeForce GTX 460 SE (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
    - You’ll need to get the latest NVidia Beta drivers for this to work – it’s that new.

    DVD ($16)
    LG Black 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD±RW SuperMulti Drive
