  1. Hi all ,

i am using Avidemux 2.5 but i have a problem with it

every time i import a recorded video from my DVB-S Card and after creating it's IDX file i find that the sound "audio: isn't synchronized with video but in original TS video file every thing is OK

tried to use shift option but it's too hard to resynchronize a big video like movie

also i am having a problem to convert videos recorded from Wide Screen channels ,Avidemux convert those videos to 4:3 video

how can i solve this ??!!

  6. A transport stream (TS) can change audio skew at any time (typically at commercial breaks). AviDemux (and MediaInfo, note the "Delay relative to video : -1s 62ms") is probably getting the audio skew from the first header.

I'm not sure how much this applies to your situation, but for the A/V sync problem you might want to take a look at the new Avidemux 2.6 beta here:
    http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=158580

From the post, "The main point is to keep a/v sync whatever the source... It should be especially useful for people doing ts capture (SD or HD) then converting /editing."

I downloaded it last week but haven't gotten around to installing it yet. A couple of people in that thread are reporting good results with it, though.

Here u can see that the video isn't wide any more !!!

    can't find 16:9 option

  12. The difference between a 16:9 DVD and 4:3 DVD is only a flag that tells the player what aspect ratio to use when showing the video. Both use the same frame size 720x576 for PAL DVDs.

I don't think you indicated what codecs and containers you're using. The aspect ratio flags can be set in both.

In Avidemux, the aspect ratio is set in the Configure option under the Video menu on the left, but you may have to look around for it. For instance, for xvid, it's on the first page of the configure options, while for AVC, it's under "Configure"->"Options 1". I'm no Avidemux expert, so there may be other aspect options that I'm unaware of.

As an alternative to setting the aspect ratio flag, you can just encode as square pixel (that's what I usually do these days; not all of my past media players have respected aspect flags).

To use square pixel encoding for your particular movie, use Avidemux's crop filter to crop 72 pixels from the top, and 72 from the bottom, then use the resize filter to resize to 720 X 304 (for this particular 2.35:1 movie; use 720 X 400 for the more common 1.85:1 widescreen movies (adjust to taste, if desired)). That should get you pretty close to what you want (it's hard to tell exactly from your jpg). That will give you something like the picture below:

  14. Note that the AVI container doesn't really support aspect ratio flags. For that to work in an AVI container the video codec has to support it. And you have to use a player that knows how to get the flags from the codec.
