I'm trying to make a backup of the movie AI. I ripped the movie along with the audios using smart ripper (demuxing to extra file). The size of the video for the movie is 5.23gb which definitely won't fit on my DVDR. I'm trying to re-encode it with a lower bitrate using TMPEGenc. I'm able to select the m2v file under TMPEG but when I go to preview it there's no time line. It seems as though theres only one frame. I went to the advanced options control to see if I could select a peice of the movie to cut out of the main movie but there's no timeline there either. I'm pretty sure that I've used this method before to slim down another movie and had no problems. But if I'm wrong then what program should I use to do this. Or has someone had this same problem and found a solution?
Thanks

hello
first thing to do is go to the option at the top of tmpgenc and then goto enviromental settings and then to plugin .see if you have the m2v plugin there by mpeg2 plugin.you will proberly find it is not.if it is then you can try this smartripper as per normal your dvd then get dvd2avi 2.74 use this. then goto tmpgenc (easier if you have 2.51 onwards) use the wizard and first load the template you need dvd pal or ntsc then go and load the video and audio as per normal in the windows then do all the usual bit you may need (source/clipping ect) then when you get to the end you will see a bar where you can tweek the size/quailty of the movie (also little tip for you .some authoring software cannot read single mpg2 files over 4.07gb)there can only be one:but its not me -
Yeah you were right, I needed to download the plugin for it. Can't believe I didn't try looking it up first. Oh well, thank you for your help.
