Trying to burn or convert the MP4 video files from Handbrake takes forever on my Mac Pro, like 9 hrs to convert 2 hrs of MP4 video to MPEG2 or DVD burn. How can I make it faster?

Handbrake or Mactheripper is all I have to rip video from copy protected dvd's. Why does MP4 conversion to MPEG2 take so long? Is that normal?

dvd is mpeg-2. rip the dvd to the hard drive without conversion. then find something a mac can use to convert the vobs to a single mpeg-2 file.

can't help much more as i don't use macs.

Thanks for replies. My problem is i cant rip copy protected dvd's to hard drive without using Handbrake or Mactheripper. Those programs only output MP4 video - which looks great but takes forever to then burn to dvd (because of conversion) or to convert to MPEG2 using a conversion program. The MP4 video seems to have a larger image size than 720 x 480, is that what's taking so long to convert?

maybe. if it's widescreen it needs to be converted to 854x480 mpg4. then back to 720x480 mpg2. loss of quality is doubled with the conversions also.

maybe a mac chap can jump in here and give you a hint on how to do it without the double conversions....

next time you might post into the mac forum to start with, as it might get more appropriate responses.
