Page 18/19 of the manual (HT-BD1250_XAA.pdf), "Remote Control", has instruction how to set and use the HT remote with a tv of another brand.

The Samsung AH59-00104J remote was produced for the Samsung DVD-SH893, DVD-SH895 or DVD-SH897. You got the wrong item.

The AH59-021445 doesn't exist; that last glyph is the letter "S". I've seen 'em sold on Ebay, although the Samsung site's search function doesn't have anything on that part number.

Most Samsung players CANNOT be made region free. I've NEVER heard of any home theater model bluray player that can be made region free.

11. Thanks for reply but i had this from a forum of which i tried and not working the way i like it

I follow the instructions posted by fmcardoso and works for my HT-BD1250. Below are the instructions:

I found it`s possible to install a firmware from another country.
With this, it's possible to see DVDs ou BDs from another region, AND take advantges from other features published only on another country firmware, for example: in Brazil don't have Netflix and Pandora networks, so Samsung let them see AVI/DiVX files from USB or DVDs.
To install a firmware from another country:
- download/unzip the firmware
- using a Hex Editor edit the RUF file
- locate the 3 letters code that identify the country of this firmware, it's like XAA (for US)
- change to the your-model's country (see at BD-P1600 system information)
- Follow the rest of normal procedure

Good movies!!

Region code hack posted by yawara, November 14 2010:

Hi,
I used this hack for my Samsung HT-BD1250
(This hack is allso supposed to work with HT-BD1220,
HT-BD1250, HT-BD1252, HT-BD1255, HT-BD2ET, HT-BD2T,
HT-BD3252, HT-BD7200, HT-BD8200, HT-DB120, HT-DB1650, HT-DB300, HT-DB600, HT-BD650, HT-DB750M, HT-DB760, HT-DB770)

1. Open the disc tray and remove any discs
2. Close the disc tray
3. Switch Off Player and Unplug from mains wait minimum 30 seconds - this resets the memory, and RAM of the DVD/BlueRay
4. Make sure your TV is on as usual, and Reconnect to mains
5. Turn on your DVD/Blueray player with remote and wait for the "no disc" message to appear
6. PS! As quickly as possible, using your controller press - ENTER 8 4 2 6 9 ENTER
7. You have been successful when a blue box appears in the top left-hand side of the TV Screen, displaying the message "DVD Region Free"

I had to attempt the "ENTER 8 4 2 6 9 ENTER" sequence several times before i got the Region Free message - so keep trying, and Good luck!

does anyone have an updated unlocking code. I just received a BD1252 with firmware 2.8 and can't get the code to work no matter how I try it. My swedish sis-in-law who gave me the player had no need to unlock it, but I'm an American living in Swedish, so I have hundreds of region 1 DVDs I want to play on it but can't.

DragonsDream - You can always ask, but in the future we'd prefer you just make a new post. You're arguably hijacking this thread, which we don't like, but it's also arguable given the subject that you are on topic. Anyway...

If you want a region free player then you need to avoid Samsung and Sony. It could be that firmware and/or hardware changes made during production (and this happens a lot more than you might think) have rendered the unlock codes useless for your particular model. saayacoolu talked about using another country's firmware and I cannot recommend this as some have bricked their players doing that. If you just want a region free DVD player, despite their official denials Philips still makes a large number of DVD players that can easily be made region free. Personally I have a cheap Philips DVD player that's region free and I use it for DVD watching to take some of the wear and tear off my Momitsu region free BluRay player. You could just spend around $50-60 US and get a cheap Philips player you can make region free or maybe a Pioneer. But avoid Sony and Samsung.
