we already have a media player (doesn't play MKV) that suits most things for the living room

    this is for my bedroom

EDIT: I found this, which is the media player we use in the living room

I've never heard of that brand. For reliability I'd check to see if there is a UK version of the wonderful WDTV media players. There are several models to choose from, some with internet capabilities and the first gen model without it. But they all handle just about everything you can throw at it.

Only downside is I don't believe there is a model with component output. It is sd out or hdmi out only as far as i know.

yep, browsed the WD players but at £70-£80, i'll probably settle for the one in that link

the one we use in the living room (from the same company) doesn't support MKV, but it fills our needs greatly (films, TV shows)

since i'm an Anime fan though, it'll be nice to watch it in the comfort of my room since 99% of it is in the MKV format, and the reviews at Amazon are pretty good

I have the earlier version of the WD and it is as described by Yoda. However, the Seagate Fat+ does have Component, Audio/Video and HDMI output.

iboum.com : Future Entertainment Technology : Chipsets in Media Players

Is a good site for obtaining all the info. you want re: media players.

Oh, also might mention that the Fat+s have been heavily discounted here in the US recently since they are trying to unload them in favor of their new Media player. I bought a few at $39 from Newegg.
