  1. Hi, i have two important family vhs cassestes that are in the PAL-SECAM format (what it says on the box). They are deinetely not protected in any way. i have an ntsc vcr and an ATI ALL IN WONDER 128 PRO card to rip. I tried placing the cassete in the vcr and ripping from the vcr but there was no picture or just snow) and much too fast audio. How can i view tis cassette on my comp (MMC player). once i can see it i can rip it easily (i know how). is there a stripper box that can perfoorm thios conversion. be sure to include every step.

btw: i did try all the PAl, NTSC, and SECAM modes available in MMC with no luck. and all the cables were connected correctly since they functioned on an ntsc cassette.

ps...if anyone knows where to buy stripper boxes please say so

    thanx

Unfortunately, a SECAM file will not play back correctly in a NTSC video tape player, for several reasons. a.) different sync rate b.) different field order c.) different frame rate, not to mention that I believe many of the countries using PAL/SECAM are on a 50Hz power grid, which of course necessitates different sync rates/etc. With some DVD players it is possible to overcome these differences and play PAL discs on NTSC televisions, but I am not aware of such a fix for VCR's since they are analog.
