  1. Best format and settings to render for youtube in sony vegas 7.
Hi, Thanks in advance. I have s VHS footage that has been digitized using the canopus 110. Using sony vegas 7. In Vegas 7 what would be the best format to render the AVI files for use on you tube. Obviously not a format that needs huge files, but you tube lets you upload up to a gig, I'd like a crisp video but don't want to wait forever to upload. I've heard windows AVI, but what framesize or is there a template for the correct render that I can download or could someone give me the best settings or link to a tutorial. Does it make sense to use HD for video originally shot on S VHS and could I get a good resolution for a widescreen picture that would fill up the screen. A friend says that using HD will be like giving you a lossless version of the original, pretty much. Also for audio, should I set that for 4800 24 bit pcm. Thanks again and have a good holiday!

youtube prefers you to upload 264 .mp4 video with aac or mp3 audio. 1280x720 30p is good for the HD link if you use a bitrate of 5mbps or so.

i don't recall what you'd use for vegas 7 as i use the current version 10 pro. maybe the mainconcept or sony mp4/avc encoders are in 7?

If Vegas v7 doesn't have h.264 out, just export at native DV format, then us a free h.264 encoder such as Handbreak. Native 16 bit 48 KHz stereo audio should be fine. There is no advantage to upsampling.

  4. My friend says for my video shot on S VHS camera it's better to render at 640X480 it is better for video from that source, if that makes any difference, I don't know..is HD for stuff shot on HD cameras. And I should render in HQ instead of HD, but I don't think vegas 7 has HQ. He also says a AVI for windows file is better than an MPEG4. The main concepts MP4 in vegas looks not so good. The h264 I know nothing about. Thanks. I'll have to look into it. Although if you think there is a way I can render videos just using vegas 7 that would be better.

I'll put up a link to my MPG4 and his HD version of the same thing. I would like to get that quality from one of the formats that sony vegas can render.
