  1. I was watching the video clip on the apple website that shows how the producers of Leverage use final cut studio for their program. Two questions, I noticed they are using a completely different keyboard that appears to be color coded and they have an editing mixer of some sort.

Can anyone tell me what they are using ?

There are several third party manufacturers, with keyboards specialized per main application use. Here's one of them, here another, and another. You can also choose for transparent overlays.
The circular device seems to be a jog shuttle controller or simply "shuttle".

Going back to 70's CMX pro editing, editors do most tasks though keyboard shortcuts and jog/ shuttle controls that originally controlled fast servo VTR's. Keyboards were essentially run by functional hot keys that were color coded. Pros are adept at touch typing these controls. Most Pro edit software today can be run using similar muscle memory functional keyboards.

Personal Note: Its a shame the 1970-1995 period goes uncovered by internet history except for computer specific technology.

    Early computer editing systems.
