    Crop it then re-encode while reducing the quality.
    Mask it then re-encode while reducing the quality is always another option.

    no no i mean like i guess a meta file. that shows up in the Info tag. kinda like a id3 tag on mp3

  4. if it is mp3. you can use ID3 TAG (Free Version). and edit id3 meta tags in mp3.
    i normally use Media Monkey for mp3 tags.

    I know it can be done for some file types (AVI, MKV, MP4) with VLC, and for AVI with abcAVI Tag Editor.

    If you have the original DVD folder structure (ifo and bup files, as well as the VOBs) then you could use DVD Shrink. Load the whole thing into Shrink, make sure compression is set to 100% or No Compression, hit backup, and put whatever value you want in the Creator ID field, then save a new version.

    If it is an authored DVD file set, just open it in pgc-edit, and use the "Set Provider ID" function.
