  1. Hi guys

I have a MKV video file with DAR of 712*534, I want to change it to 720*480.
I used MKVMerege GUI and set it to 720*480 and remuxed it. When I play the file with Media Player Classic it's AR is not changed. But if I play it with KMPlayer it's changed.
So anyone has any idea what should I do since MPC is my default player.
    Thanks

  2. Make sure MPC is set up to respond to PAR/DAR flags. While playing right click on the window and select Video Frame -> Keep Aspect Ratio. Also Video Frame -> Touch Window From Inside. And Video Frame -> Override Aspect Ratio -> Default.

If that doesn't work you may need to look at what filters are when playing the video: what MKV reader/splitter is being used, and what video decoder. Are you using MPC or MPCHC?

  3. All the settings are as you mentioned.
    It's MPC.
It shows a list of filters used while playing as follows:
    - Default direct sound device
    - Video mixing render 9 (renderless)
    - Audio switcher
    - ffdshow video decoder
    - AAc decoder

What am I supposed to do?

    Thanks

  4. Make sure ffdshow is set to pass aspect ratio information. Select Ffdshow Video Decoder while the video is playing. In the left hand pane, near the bottom select Output. Make sure Set Pixel Aspect Ratio In Output Media Type is enabled.

The render probably has an aspect ratio setting too. Make sure it's enabled.

  5. Set Pixel Aspect Ratio In Output Media Type is enabled.
The render doesn't have any kind of setting.
Do you think there's a problem with MPC?

  6. What MKV reader/splitter are you using? MPC's internal version? Try disabling it and using Haali instead -- or vice versa. View -> Options -> Filters -> Enable Built-in Filters... change the state of Matroska Splitter.

  7. Well seems that I can't find the path you said.
View -> Options and then there is not such a thing as filters, but there are 2 options: Internal filters and external filters.
In both I can only enable or disable the filters, besides I can't see the name of the filters, just the file types ( e.g avi, ac3, flv, matroska ... ) so I have no idea what splitter it uses for mkv, but if I'm not wrong when I installed MPC ( as a part of K-Lite mega codec pack ) I chose Gabest as the splitter.
Anyway by disabling matroska option, it works fine ( no idea why, maybe the exact thing you asked me to do ).
So if you think that will do it and I won't have any other problems relating mkv files, I'll stick to it.
And thanks a lot for your help

  8. Sorry, I opened an older version of MPC when I gave the list of steps. With newer versions it's View -> Options -> Internal Filters... in the Source Filters box change Matroska. Which is what you did, I guess. You can see what source filter is in use when playing a video by right clicking on the window and selecting Filters... The source filter usually shows up as the filename of the video being played. If you select it you may get some options, or at least the name of the filter.
