I'm not sure where to begin. I always used XP Pro and recently took the plunge and bought a new PC with Windows 7 Pro Home version. I have installed Nero 10(talk about bloatware), and with this new PC, DVD Shrink tells me that I need to install Nero to "enable burning", but Nero works fine(I've tested it)
I also have AnyDVD, and Clone DVD2 which both work fine and I am able to burn with Clone DVD2, but I miss Shrink. Is it just not compatible with Windows 7? I hate to pay $80 for the XP mode download.
Has anyone run into this? Or maybe Shrink had been outdone by something newer.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm a bit stumped. Thanks!

Did you install Nero before Dvdshrink ?
If your burning software is not installed first Shrink will not know it is there as it looks for it when installed.
But i also noticed that using Nero 10 dvdshrink does not see it either so they must have changed something about Nero in recent versions.
I would use Dvd Decrypter or Imgburn to burn dvd's from shrink before nero anyways.
As long as Dvd Decrypter is installed before Shrink, you can set it to burn after it is done.
You can also set it up to do the same thing with Imgburn using the modded DvdShrink exe on the Dvdshrink tool page.
I use Nero for burning audio cd's at most. -
Thanks. I'm glad to know it's not just my PC. I'll give one of the other programs a try or just stick with Clone DVD2. I'll really miss DVD Shrink.

You don't have to miss Dvd Shrink, just set it up to use Dvd Decrypter or Imgburn to burn the dvd's, those are better burning programs for DVD's than Nero anyways, espc. dual layers, & they are free.
Even when i use Dvdfab for decrypting dvd's, i always set it to use Imgburn for burning. -

Judging from what I've read from posts over the past year or so, the most recent version of Nero that DVD Shrink will 'recognize' is version 7. There's probably something hard-coded in Shrink that it's just not seeing with the newer versions of Nero.
...but, yeah, use the version of Shrink that burns with Imgburn. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
Maybe it's just me, but i don't see the link to the modded Dvd Shrink .exe for using Imgburn on the Dvd Shrink tool page ??
I think someone needs to fix that!!!
Edit:
Never mind.... I see it....
DOHH!!!

From this thread, it sounds like Shrink should be able to use Decrypter to burn, but I'm not able to get that to work. the only option I'm seeing in Shrink is to use Nero, which is not working, as the poster above stated. I have the same issue, just installed Windows 7 64 bit and Nero 9 and Shrink won't recognize the Nero. Was told older versions of Nero won't work on Win 7.
So, do you use shrink to copy the movie to your hard drive, then burn it with Decrypter, or do is there a setting I missed to get these two to work together? I did uninstall Shrink, reboot, then reinstall it once Decrypter was installed, but that didn't help.... I am downloading Imgburn now, maybe that might help?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know a little, but not a ton, and can't seem to figure this out on my own.
Thanks,

that's basically how I use shrink now- after it creates the files, I just burn them with imgburn (imgburn will recognize the files and set the parameters for the file type)
edit- the imgburn part isn't run through dvdshrink-it's a separate process, but easy to do. -
DVD Shrink works fine on XP Pro with Nero 7
Nero 7 installs on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit...but it just won't work. Something about not being able to build a graph.
Shrink also works fine for me on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, 4Gb ram & it recognizes Nero 9.2.6.1 for burning. That particular version of Nero is unfortunately pretty limited as far as the kind of trickery you can indulge in as far as importing certain video content...and it constantly asks for activation despite having got it all legit from the sods at Nero themselves!!!
Although Nero 10 can do some freaky good stuff as far as video file conversions and the like, the problem still exists that Shrink still asks for Nero to be installed to enable burning...and I have tried every possible install/uninstall/re-install combination I can think of. That fragmented install ticking off anyone else?!
The only thing I can think of for Nero 10 but haven't tried yet is to rip an iso to your HDD using Shrink and use Nero to open that image file. Painful maybe, but perhaps the only thing worth trying if you're a little set in your ways like me. -
I've had the same problem as all of you. A quick fix as well as annoying It is to use NERO 7 and DVDShrink 3.2, They Really Don't like Windows 7 64 Bit. First uninstall DVDShrink, then uninstall NERO. First restart your computer. Then Reinstall NERO and restart your computer. After that you reinstall DVDShrink and do your business. Once you close DVDShrink, It's done for. You have to do It every time when you close it. But for a while just install DVDShrink and use it while It works. It works!!! That's the best I've come up with. As much as a pain It Is, It WORKS!!!!

@formula1
Would Nero work with the portable version of DVD Shrink.

You need to use DVDShrink 3.2. And you need to use NERO 7 ESSENTIALS. You can download both online for free. It's the only way It'll work at this point. Unless you pay for It. Which sucks because nobody want's to pay for It. So go to NERO.com and download Nero 7. Then after you uninstalled your burning software, restart, and Install it. After that install DVDShrink and you're good to go until you turn it off because It doesn't like It with win 7 so you'll have to uninstall every time. You only have to uninstall DVDShrink not everything. Next time you want to burn a DVD you just have to REINSTALL SHRINK.

I was to the understanding that if using DVDShrink3.2 you could not Burn a disc with/after Version Nero6.6. I could not Burn anything later than Nero6.6 as the check box was greyed out. The only way I could burn with Nero after version 6.6 was to shrink the DVD into a folder then use Nero to burn the contents of the DVD folder. Nero 10 is BLOATWARE taking approx 2.5Gb Hardrive space and taking control of your computer. Find something else to burn with.
