  1. I am about to buy a reasonably blu ray burner. Which one should I get?

    Well, you have "best" in your title and "reasonable" in your text. Might want to determine which is more important.

    For the best, I'd recommend the Pioneer BDR-206 or the earlier model, the 205

    For reasonable, go with the LG WH10LS30K

    Only the specs give any real difference ... some just prefer the pioneer's and talk up other brands as being the lesser ... Ive had both brands and found pioneers reliable and robust but finicky with older discs which is why mines the iHBS212 unit.

    Lite-on came to blu ray burning a bit later and their first burners were not giving consistent burns on blu ray media. Early impressions hang on for a while. LG's have always been known to be picky about media and are not too good about firmware updates. Pioneer wins because the quality of their burns has been good, they don't have many incompatibilities with media and are well made (at least for modern burners).
