I have what I think is probably an easy question for somebody who's in the know, but unfortunately that's not me. Here it is: I have a movie I downloaded off the net. I loaded it in virtualdub and clicked film properties, and it said it was 23.97 fps. So I figured when I would load it into tmpge for encoding, I would have to do that 3:2 pulldown when playback to make it ok to watch on my tv, I live in the states. Here is where I get confused. Normally when you first load an avi file into tmpge, down on the very bottom line you'll see the stats of your file: res, fps, audio, etc. When I load this particular file, it has the same audio and resolution that virtualdub had, but it now says the fps is 30! When I tried to encode using the 3:2 pulldown, inverse telecine, my movie paused every second or so, and the video was before the audio. This makes me think that even though my original source must have been film, somewhere along the line, 6 extra frames were added which is why I see the stopage every second. Am I right? What should I do to fix this? I use Ulead and it won't let me bring a file in unless it's 29.97 frames or 25. (I encoded the file again at 24 frames and it said it was not a valid mpeg). Any help at this point will be appreciated. Thank you.
