I have obtained a batch of home recorded DVD-Rs.
Out of the batch of 40, one of these will not load through Windows - in fact it totally locks up Explorer so no program will run when it is in the drive until the disk is ejected.
The disk will also not load in a stand-alone - just reports 'Disk Error, please eject'.
The conents of the disk are not that critical so I can live without them and neither it is worth getting back to the person whom I obtained them from.
But does anyone have any suggestions of how I can run Windows (XP2) with this disk in the drive so that I can possibly rip the contents (it certainly has something written to it) without it locking up the whole works.

Only one fails?
Try another PC disc drive,
then try another disc drive from a different manufacturer,
then a different disc drive that uses a different hardware interface, i. e. SCSI,
then a different shell and the above, then a different OS, then a different workstation.
I try to avoid burned media. It is generally unreliable. -
