Sony DV-700 hook-up to Mac

I am not a professional, but I do a lot of home editing of vacations, family events and such. I decided that using my camcorder as a deck is not in it's best interests. I purchased the DV-700.

I am on a Mac and do my editing in FinalCutPro. I was rather dismayed when I discovered that the 700 had no Firewire connection. I tried the USB but FCP will not recognize it. My question is simple. How do I connect the 700 to my Mac?

I have both 400 and 800 Firewire available. I have looked for adapters with no luck.

not familiar with a sony dv-700 deck, could you post a link to the specs?

The Sony GV-D700 is a MiniDV player that connects by Firewire, same as a MiniDV camcorder.

There is also an HDV/DV GVH-D700.

Sony calls the Firewire port DV iLink. You will find it on the back or behind the door on the right side.

Meanie,

I'm between a rock and a hard place. I'm staring at the back of the unit and it has ONE output port. Mini USB. Yet the specs say there are two.
