that's easy..the newer one hands down...i went to my dads recently and loaded up a dvdrw of some avi files...mixed codecs..and it only played 3 of 5 correctly or at all...i loaded the same disc in my 5990 and it played them all w/ no issues

all newer ones will play more cause of the updated and new formats/codecs etc

  4. They both play MPG files and AVI files with Divx/Xvid video and MP3/AC3 audio. The 3560 may also play MP4 files with Divx/Xvid video and MP3 audio. But the 3560 also supports more Divx/Xvid features, like GMC, QPel, multiple B frames, etc. It also has better handling of PAL/NTSC conversions.

If you're looking for a player that plays MKV files and more modern codecs like h.264, AAC, etc. you'll need something like a Western Digitial WDTV Live or the LG BD 530.
