  2. i think that you got them mixed up.
Standard NTSC tv's are better as they run in 60hz and pal tv's run at 50hz so the NTSC tv's refresh quicker thus giving a better picture.
Although many of the newer pal tv's coming out now can run up to 100hz so it is more about the tv itself than if it is pal or NTSC.

  4. From a technical standpoint PAL is better than NTSC. Most PAL tv's (sold in Australia anyway) now can run at either 50Hz or 60Hz.

  5. yeah u can get 100hz tvs in the uk now.but it was the resolution i understand is superior with pal tvs-how does this compare to hdtv?i go back and forth to toronto and london and my canadian tv isnt as good a picture-yes i was on cable so that half of it.problem is north america was so slow going to digital-cable companies stuck to anolog.but comparing my brother satellite in toronto to my sky tv picture in the uk, i must say its better in pal.
i was reading an article in a dvd magazine and it said something along those lines and the north american industry doesnt want to use higher resolution like pal because its said they feel the better the resultion the more pirating would follow with the better copies that could be produced.
im not saying this is true just asking if that is the case with pal-always heard it was better but there are always other factors with these things.
i have had a widescreen tv here for 3 years-try finding one in toronto at the futureshop-(thats affordable)i never see them.one of the few things europe is ahead of n.america in.

  6. You got that right! I used to live in Canada(NTSC), now I'm in Portugal (PAL) I have a few tapes from canada and I can view them here because I have a NTSC vcr and a multisystem TV. One good thing about europe is that almost any TV is capable of displaying NTSC or at least PAL-60 which is NTSC with the PAL colour carrier so it can display NTSC even if only in black and white. My multisys TV is capable of displaying true NTSC and for comparison PAL's picture is clearer than NTSC and the colours are more vivid. I defenately like PAL better than NTSC.
