  1. I am trying to capture a VCD to record to video tape. I am using the Dazzle Video Creator with MovieStar.
I see lots of postings on vcr to VCD, but nothing the other way.
    Any ideas.
This is my first video experience.

    Thanks

I think I know what you're getting at, but I'm not sure.

When I want to get movies and such from my computer onto a VHS tape, I use the 'video out' on my ATI Radeon VIVO. If you have a video card with a video out, get a hold of an A/V cable (those yellow, red, and white thingys) and go out to Radio Shack or some other electronics store and buy an RCA to 1/8" adapter. It's a little thing with red and white RCA inputs that converts to a headphone-like jack, so you could plug it into your sound card. So, hook up the yellow to your video card, red and white to your sound card, and the other end of the cables to your VCR input. Now figure out how to activate the video out on your video card, and make sure the resolution is at 800x600 because I think that that is the highest resolution that TVs/VCRs can support. Now play your video in Media Player or whatever you're using, put it in full screen and hit record on your VCR. It will record everything that's showing on your monitor, so try to move the mouse pointer to the bottom right corner so it gets out of view.

Oh yeah. Some video outs only have S-Video. So you might need an adapter of some sort.

If you don't have a video out on your video card, I think there are other things available, such as USB and serial cable video out things. But then again, I'm not sure.

  3. Or if you have a DVD player, connect it in line with your VCR and record it like a normal movie.
