  1. Can I convert Pinnacle DVAVI (made by Pinnacle DV500 Capture card) from another computer connected by LAN and doesn't have Pinnacle DV500 capture card with TMPGEnc to create VCD file faster. I mean, can we installed Pinnacle DVAVI codec into another computer that doesn't have Pinnacle DV500 capture card. Thank.

  2. i'm shooting in the dark here but i'm guessing either you don't need the codec on the other computer or that you can install the said codec on the other computer no prob, other wise they would'nt sell it most comsumers don't reencode they just send the video as captured it would be a useless product if you couldn't pass it from computer to computer...

  3. My first post:

    As far as I know....
The Pinncalcel DV500 codec is hardware based, so only the computer
with it can use that codec.

However I do process my DV files created using the codec on another
computer over the network using the MainConcept DV codec (free trial decodes, encodes have watermark), and it works great. Allows me to edit in primiere while other computer is encoding using TmpgEnc.

You can also use the Microsoft DV codec, but it is directshow only.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Mr-bojangles

I own a DV500+ and do exactly what you want:

1 - Turn off the 1st PC and remove pinnacle hardware

2 - install PCI on the 2nd PC (network slave machine to encode)

3 - Reinstall the PCI on the 1st machine

4 - Pinnacle AVI is not based on hardware, but it checks everytime
you start the PC if the DV500 software installation is present, so
is not necessary the PCI installed.

I open the Pinnacle AVI captured on 1st machine over the network on 2nd PC (there´s
no need to transfer) and frameserve AviSynth to TMPGEnc.

I have 2 HD´s so while the avi is enconding thru network on drive d:
i still capturing on my drive e:.

But remember: all real time effects, transitions and etc could be rendered
while enconding.... there´s no real time preview in premiere...

    Hope it helps.

  5. Good idea cardosi,
maybe any other simple way ? (Just need direct show filter, so Pinnacle DV500
files can be opened into another computer connected by LAN).

I'm afraid to temporary exchange the card cause a problems, because my another cpu is already using broadway pro 5.0 and no empty pci slots.

    Hi Alexander,

In theory seems to be acceptable.. but i don´t
    know anyone who tested.

I´ll be here praying for you make it works.

you gave me another idea: Install pinnacle dv500 software
without pci inserted and after Premiere 6 install, exactly
    by the book.

I´m not sure but the only thing i noticed disabled on
Premiere 6 is Pinnacle MPEG2 codec on Export, so the PCI
is only necessary for encoder DVD and Real Time Effects...

Pinnacle team is so smart (and the card is so expensive!)

I´m just kidding.... at last i´m Pinnacle Dealer in Brazil....

  7. I'm having this same problem. I have a Pinnacle DV500 and I am trying to view the Pinnacle AVI DV files on a separate computer than the one where the card is installed. I see mentioned before that The Codec is hardware based and I'm curious if theres anything I can do other than moving the card from system to system. And what is AVISynth and can i use it with TMPEnc.?
