I have live concert file in .vob format and wanted to convert to .avi and I have had try WinAVI_Video_Converter but didn't work it just stuck on 25% like that and doesn't continue. Is there any way to convert this to .avi? Are there any software that can convert this files that I really like to have a collection of the most.

  4. it's a surprise that WinAVI (robust) fails.
Try simple WinFF or SGI Video Converter which uses FFMPeg as back-bone.

AutoGK works well in conversion to .AVI and Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player can play it BUT without a sound. What's wrong with it ? Anyways, it works well in VLC and Classic Media Player and Real Player.

First, no one with any sense uses WMP. Second, you're probably missing a filter for playback in WMP and don't blame AutoGK for your problems.

Robust is not one of the words I would use to describe WinAVI. Other words do spring to mind - crap, rubbish, rip-off - you get the idea.

AutoGK is solid. Other contenders include Xmedia Recode, FormatFactory, WinFF or even virtualdub or AVI Demux.

The other thing to consider is that your source is in .VOB format. The VOB format was designed for use as part of the DVD specification, and should be accompanied by IFO and BUP files. The IFO file contains information about the content of the VOBs. In most cases, when working with VOB files, you should load the IFO file to ensure that the aconverter gets the correct information about the content of the VOBs. Included in this information is detail about any applicable audio delay. When working with AutoGK, always load the IFO file.

@gunslinger thanks for the idea of including IFO when dealing with .VOB fies using AutoGK. Actually I'm a new user of AutoGK and I appreciate its capability in converting those files I find difficult to convert to .AVI. on some other software that I was using. On the other hand, I'm very sad that there are users that are something like mocking each other just to depend on behalf of a software. My friends, brothers, sisters and technophiles, we are here to gain insights and sharing what ideas do you have and not to argue and mock each other. Anyways, thanks for contributing good ideas on this thread. Mabuhay!

What audio format did you choose for the output? If you kept the original audio (DTS, DD...) that would explain why you get no sound in WMP. Choose MP3 audio for better compatibility with any players and set top box.
