Need help to copy,edit and burn movies from my camcorder

Okay, this is what I'm trying to do and believe me when I tell you, I'm totally NEW to this video stuff. Therefore, I'm laying everything down at once (or at least try).

First Project:
What I would like to do, is copy movies from my camrecorder to my computer, edit the file (edit the movie), and then burn them to a DVD. Once on a DVD, I would like to show them on my TV. I have no clue what software to use and then I need the settings to be very simple, along with the editing.

Second Project:
What I would like to do, is build a DVD library of the movies that I rent for my viewing only. Again, I have no clue about the software to use or the settings.

Third Project:
After doing either Project #1 or Project #2 I would also like to put them on my Vibrant Andriod Phone.

depending on the camcorder u have, it should have come with some software that will import that camcorder footage to an .avi file...it will take the entire amount of time thats on tape..i.e....45 minutes on tape...45 minutes to put on the pc etc...the software will also normally have a basic editor in included...my panasonic minDV came with such software...pretty simple to use..took some getting use to though

if your talking about software to catalog your movies then ANT movie catalog is the way to go..free and does a great job

to put them in a format to play on your phone, you would have to leave the created dvd files on your pc..or the avi file you made from the camcorder importing software and use XviD4PSP or XMedia Recode to convert them into a playable format for your phone

Both camcorders came with no software. I guess I forget to mentioned that I'm looking for a software package that will do it all for me. For my phone, I've found that using Handbrake is great. But again, I'm looking for some software package that will do it all for me.

Why are you keeping the camcorder models such a secret?

Like saying you need a widget for your transportation module.

I'm sorry wasn't trying to keep it a secret about the camcorder. The camcorder is a Cannon ES-60. The other camcorder is a Panasonic Model#SDR-H40P

to do it all in one, i'd bet nero's software package can do it all...import via camcorder, convert to dvd, convert to iphone or similair device

i'm guessing w/ these camC models they have sd cards/hard drive...depending on what format your using, then the 2 I mentioned can surely do the job...for the canon model...u might try WinDV...it imports from a CC to an avi container, then use one of the mentioned apps to put it on your phone

Canon ES-60 is Hi8 format.

SDR-H40P is 640x480 MPeg2.

The reason for not google each of them is that both recorders are out of date. Therefore that is why I gave what my projects are, and if anyone knows of a software package that is easy (editing), and don't have to worry so much about settings. For example: What would you suggest I use to burn a dvd with what format (MPEG2 or DVD). See, I don't know these things. Another example is I have a 168 minute VHS movie, is it possible to put it all on one DVD and what settings would I have to use?

i got the same thing googling...out of date stuff. Older model camcorders.

for the vhs thing, buy one of these...or sumthin similar

comes with editing software...this is just the basics though...no frills...more than likely the software for this thing will convert 2 mpeg2...or maybe even vob for burnable dvd's...very simple to use stuff

Timlab1955-let's take the easy one first. For the camcorder that saves to mpeg2 - use ConvertX to DVD. Excellent program, easy to use, and will burn the final to a DVD. Note: ConvertX claims that you can edit and author in it, I have never used that part of it so I can't say from experience. It takes your mpeg, converts and burns. Done.

Your Canon ES60-I Googled this unit, and it appears to be analog, at least 2 websites said so. Please correct me if I am wrong. IF it is digital, then it probably will save to mpeg2, so use the above software. IF it is analog, you will need an analog to digital converter. Get the Hauppauge 250 video capture card. It is older so you may have problems finding it, but it will capture your analog video stream and convert it to mpeg2 files, then use ConvertX to DVD to finish.

By the way.... I have used the K World product that Moontrash referenced, and IMHO it is garbage. Look at the price and that should warn you off from the start. I wasted dozens of hours attempting to get this thing to at least make a gesture of working, and after many system crashes and useless garbage produced by this unit I followed a suggestion from Jagabo on this forum and got the Hauppauge card and it worked famously.

SECOND PROJECT: I'm not sure what you mean. If you have all your newly burned DVDs that constitutes a library, IMHO.
THIRD PROJECT: I'm not acquainted with Android, so sorry, can't help you there.

So we'll assume you have some cash and want above average quality.

The Hauppauge PVR 250 also comes in a USB2 (model WinTV-PVR-USB2). Both will hardware encode your Hi8 tapes to DVD ready MPeg2. For simple cut editing and DVD authoring, the easiest package IMO is Corel/ULead DVD Movie Factory.

The above choices are optimized for ease of use as you asked. More recent capture devices are optimized as digital ATSC tuner cards rather than SD MPeg2 analog capture. They can do it but are less easy to master. If you are using the 64 bit version of Win7, check for application 64bit support.

For MPeg2 playback or AVC conversion for use on an Android phone, Google "MPeg 2 to android converter".

Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

If 32 bit all is well.

If 64 bit consult the Corel site.
