I want to transfer programmes I've recorded on my Sky+ HD box to my (remotely situated) PC for editing and DVD writing. Is there any way I can do this by somehow transferring the Sky box scart socket output on to a USB memory stick (perhaps via my Acer Aspire one notebook) that I then put in my PC? I previously used a separate DVD writer for this purpose but that's given up the ghost now and I don't want the expense of replacing it.

You will require a capture device to sit between the Sky Box and the PC or the notebook.

Once you consider the cost of a decent device you could be better of replacing that dvd recorder.

Oh, and I expect you realise that transfering the video via the scart reduces it to SD.

  3. or you can connect the sky hdd to your computer and use a special program to transfer the recordings to your pc...
some recordings needs to be descrambled and that can be done with Offline Descrambler and your viewing card...
then you get the full digital quality.. maybe even hd content...

The Sky Box has an ethernet connector but I suspect that this is input only.
