Iv tryed two brands now memorex from wallmart and verbatim but cant get them to format or read in eather of my drives imrunning xp 64 bit sp2 please help

Why are you trying to format optical media? Just burn disc at once. Packet writing sucks.
So does Windows XP 64. It is only fit for special uses that MUST have more than 4GB of ram. I notice that you have 8GB of ram but unless you need it for a special purpose AND need XP you would be better of switching to Windows 7 64 bit.
