  1. Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.

    Looking for a programme that can automatically convert a video that is placed in a specific file and then output to a different file.

    Looking to convert to mp4.

    For example, video arrives across network into [folder 1] the programme picks it up automatically in [folder 1] and converts it to mp4 and dumps it in [folder 2] without me having to do anything.

    Had a look around and cant find anything.

  2. The term for the feature you're looking for is "watch folder"

    Some programs that offer this: eg. adobe media encoder, mainconcept reference, carbon coder, procoder , sorenson squeeze, a few others

    "mp4" is a just a container, and can hold different types of video & audio

    Or google for folder watch and use it with a separate command line tool for the actual conversion like ffmpeg.
