  1. Hi, though I tried many programs, I couldn't find the way to rip my DVD to a .mkv file with dual audio and many subtitles within. Video or Audio may be compressed or not (If it will protect the visual quality it will be better compressed to fit in a DVD5) What is the easiest way??

I guess you tried rename the file/folder names?

    Or try hdconverttox and handbrake.

  6. Now I tried hand brake. It didn't give any error but it showed 14 hour for a movie is this normal?? Isn't there more fast way?

It depends on your PC specs, how long the video is, etc.

Are you trying to convert directly from a dvd, from an image on your HDD ?

I just tested a 17 minute video and it will take 3 minutes.

But i have a pretty fast machine.

  8. My processor is a normal level. And I want to convert full DVD movie on my HDD (2 hours) to a mkv file. But 14 hour is very dreadful. May be I must adjust the compressing options. What do you suggest for this situation ??

I have a quad core 9600 phenom, 32 bit windows vista, with 3GB ram and a dvd to mkv using makemkv takes me about 20 minutes, and 40<= for a bluray to mkv conversion. I would then theorise that 14 hours is not normal.

  12. So what adjustments in hand brake software do you suggest?

It took around 14 hours back in 1999 when I converted to svcd....

What is your video encoding settings? 2-pass or constant quality? Have you just tried with one dvd source?

Winter Snake, are you using an mkv file created using makemkv, or where exactly are you at in this process?

    LOL!!

Also he is converting FROM dvd to mkv.

But also our Quad cores are quite a bit more powerful than his dual core 1.8 but yeah 14 hours seem's pretty over the top for time.

And your GPU or graphics card really has nothing to do with converting video.

Dropping in a 2 hour movie with 2 audio tracks and 2 subtitle tracks it is showing about 27 minutes ETA and around 105 FPS.

And yes different settings will take longer than others.

I have a complete DVD movie backup file on my HDD (apprx. 6.5 gb). I want to make a .mkv container file from this DVD file including dual audio and subtitles.

    1. I did this with makemkv in 25 min. But it didn't compressed video file so output is apprx. 5.8 gb.

    2. when I used hand brake for doing the same process with video compression with a slight quality lost (for fitting to DVD5). It gave 14 hour to complete

    3. In hand brake all of the h264 spesifications are at default and I use framerate option as same as source not 2 pass encoding. I don't compress any audio files either

I think my situation is clear

Try Xmedia Recode. It can output a MKV in either XviD or H264.

Regardless, of what program you should rip the DVD first to your hard drive using DVDFab HD Decrytper or have DVD43 running in the background to remove protections from disc.

***Do not compress the video or audio when ripping to hard drive, let the program doing the encoding do all the compressing.

  20. Which version do you use, mine is different? I found video options but I don't want to change audio formats (AC3 5.1)

So keep the same audio tracks.

Go to the audio track 1 and audio track 2 tabs; click copy audio. This copies the audio tracks without modifying anything.

Anymore questions its $50/hr.. LOL Do you use TeamViewer?

    Running v2.7.7.7

  22. I do most of the steps manually on a dual core Celeron E3200. It takes about an hour to go from DVD to x264/AC3 MKV. Rip to VIDEO_TS folder with DvdFab (10 minutes). DgIndex to build an index file and demux the audio streams (3 minutes). A batch file to make an AviSynth script (sometimes I edit the script to add filters) and encode with x264 (40 minutes). Finally MkvToolNix (MMG) to mux the video and audio tracks together (3 minutes). Obviously, the x264 encoding varies depending on the length of the movie and the filtering.

Ever tried 1-Click Solutions or programs, man that's a lot of steps.. Things can go wrong, wouldn't know where to look.

  24. I couldn't find any 1-click solution. I don't know why but Xmedia recode gave 12 hour timing

    My fastest solution is,

    1. directly DVD to .mkv file by Makemkv (23 min.)
    2. take video file from mkv movie by mkvtoolnix (8min.)
    3. Convert mpeg2 codec to h264, divx etc.. (approx. 1 hour depending the compression method)
    4. combine the video with .mkv file again (10 min.)

Totally 110 min. thanks for everyone helping

What do you convert the mpeg2 file with? It shouldn't really matter if it's a mpeg2 or a dvd source when you convert....just be sure to rip the dvd with latest dvdfab decrypter or anydvd.
