When remuxing a few Blu-rays, I noticed that .mkv files are a bit smaller than .m2ts after muxing. Clearly .m2ts has a bigger overhead, but what is the reason for this overhead? What are the advantages of .m2ts that can justify the extra size and if there are any cons? I don't mind the 1-1.5GB extra space if the gains are significant.
