  1. I have been given the job to install a cameras in my church to record the services. My pastor wants
    1) A camcorder with a remote control
    2) The camcorder to be mounted on the wall

Our services last bout 2-3 hours tops. Since he wants it mounted, I'm thinking that I would need a camcorder with a hard drive, so I dont have to change the tape or dvd every hour. Also HD quality.

Please give suggestion on which camcorder best fits this project.

    Thanks

If you like to push the envelope, then get an AVCHD camcorder. Off course you will have to have all the relevant software and a super fast computer. If you get a Canon HV40 or 30, you can have it both ways, HD and SD. However, the HV40 is not AVCHD HD. I am still with SD because I have all the relevant software and an adequate computer to do the job. Beside most people cannot play HD in their DVD players. This is not the most propitious moment to go HD. However, if you want a real challenge-go to it. New camcorders do not have Hard drives-they are going the flash media route. The HV 40 is a tape driven camcorder.

  4. Thank you for the feedback!

I think i'm going to check out the Canon VIXIA HF M30. If it has remote control capabilities, I think this might be the one.

    Define "remote control" more completely.

Are we talking pan/tilt/zoom or just zoom? Who will be installing/operating these cameras (skill level)?

    What is the budget?

Is this for cable broadcast or just for documentation recording?
