Hello everyone. I am converting a lot of my TV series DVD to MKV files for watching on my home LAN. I am having trouble figuring out which chapters go to which episoids When I copy them to my HD, my copy/editing program usually figures out how many episoids there are (e.g. the first disk for season 1 of the X files has 4 episoide and DVDFab8 was able to copy them on to the HD as a new Video_TS folder). From there I can use MakeMKV to make 4 individual files from this VIDEO_TS folder and create Title 1.MKV, Title 2.MKV, Title 3.MKV, and Title 4.MKV. While I would think that the episoides should just follow the pattern, the first title should be the first episoide, this isn't always the case. This can also happen with other programs such as handbrake when creating m4v files so I don't think it is really an application issue as it is a structure issue of the DVD being copied.

Is there a file that I can look in that would tell me which title goes with which episode? Is there an application that could help me sort it out?

    Thanks
    Steve

  2. You could play them in PowerDVD with the OSD on to check episode against title number. Or you could run the trace using PGCEdit and see to which title you go when clicking on the various episodes in the menu. Most standalone DVD players can do similar.
