I let my LG BD390 upgrade to the Oct 2010 release 8.08.539.B.
Afterwards it would not play any of the mkv's I had created with Handbrake v 0.9.4.
It would start to play the audio with no picture and then it would stop and power down.
I was able to download the previous firmware .531 from the LG site and flash it back to that version.
    Now they play OK again.

I'll wait for the next firmware before I let it upgrade again.

Anyone else having problems with .539?

  2. Yes, I'm having this exact same problem.

Good to know it's "just" the firmware, which can be downgraded....

    Thanks.

Took a chance and updated to the Dec 2010 8.08.542.B firmware.

My Handbrake 0.94 created files play OK.
I don't see any improvements, but at least it doesn't appear to be a step backwards like .539.

    Hello all
My player tries to update the 542 release for several weeks now. Unfortunately I have a slow internet connection (living in Suriname, South America) and the update is always cancelled halfway.
The 542 update is NOT on the lg website. Several emails and chats with LG representatives haven't helped me at all.
Is there a way to get this update by email or to find the update on another site?
    Thanks!

Next time the LG BD390 has a download manager, I will use it.
Thanks for your kind and helpful advice.

    Hello!

It seems that you guys know a lot about these stuff!
As I am new to this, could you please tell me / post a link where to find an earlier version of firmware that would allow me to make my BD390 multi region?

Any help would be highly apreciated!

  8. I don't think you can make the blueBlu side of the 390 region free.

    check here for more help

    from one poster on amazon.com

European (Region 2) BD390 can be unlocked by running a specific ISO (search for "6000.zip") but this hack doesn't seem to work for US (Region 1) machines.
