A couple of years ago I bought a Popcorn Hour. I have all my DVDs stored on USB hard drives. The PH plays them with full menu support- just like the actual DVD. The PH had issues with iso files, so I re-ripped them to VIDEO_TS folders and they work fine.

Anyway, I finally broke down and bought a 72 inch HDTV. And I wanted to build a Blu Ray library. But I want to be able to the rip the discs and play the .isos off a hard drive on my TV and not have Bluray discs cluttering up my living room.

I ripped a blu ray disc as an iso and as a folder set. Neither one worked. So my A-110 is useless for what I want to do.

What I want to do is rip full Blu Ray .isos (no compression) to a usb hard drive and play them back on my TV with full menu support. I don't want to stream over a network or anything like that. I'm just looking for a set top media player that will get the job done.

I was wondering if anyone knows of anything that will do the job. So far, the only thing I've found is the Dune. But I'm not paying 400-500 for it. If nothing else, I will wait a couple of years for the price to come down. I just wasn't sure if this was the only option right now

It's not the greatest TV, but it is big (to me anyway) Mitsubishi DLP full 1080p. Should be arriving via freight any day now.

I guess I can live with discs until the Dune comes down or something cheaper comes out. I paid $250 for my Popcorn hour less than two years ago. Now they are going for $70 on Ebay. The Dune just isn't worth that kind of money to me. It's not going to kill me to wait a year or two. Besides, by then hard drive will be even cheaper. We are already seeing 2TB internals for $80. I bought 4 externals this summer at $120 each and that was a pretty good deal then.

Just thought I'd comment. I bought four 250GB drives in 2005-2006 thinking that's all I'd need for a long, long time. Then I bought two 1TB drives end of 2007 thinking that's all I'd need for a long, long time. Then another in 2008. Then another four in 2009.

Just last month I bought three 2TB drives with the same thinking - they will last a long, long time. I've already filled one of them. So far, total fourteen drives filled, two to go.

I guess if 1-2 years is "a long, long time" then yeah, they will indeed last "a long, long time".
I hate VHS. I always did.

I have the HDI Dune Base. It will do exactly what you need. The Popcorn Hour c-200 is a step up from the model you have, and it too, will play blu-ray rips in either folder or iso format with menu navigation as if you were playing a real disc. But last I heard, Popcorn c-200 is more buggy than the Dune. Not sure if I can provide a link, so I won't, but if you go to the avs forums and go into the networking/media servers & content streamers section... you can pretty much get up to date on what's possible now. They are really gung-ho over about these things.

If you're too lazy to read-up on all your options, then trust me, get the Dune Base, It's awesome. The machine itself takes one hard drive, but you can connect via usb external hubs, storage bays, etc. I have a 4 bay case connected to the base. So 5 hard drives overall working for me. This thing is also capable of networking and all of that stuff, but like you, I don't like the hassle and quality of streaming over network. A model above the Dune Base is the Dune Prime, it includes a blu-ray disc player, but since I have a ps3, this was unnecessary for me.

    Hope that helps!

Stumbled onto this thread while looking for info on a new Samsung TV I just ordered

I haven't tried BluRay ISOs but this little box has played every video file I've thrown at it, claims BluRay ISOs -
